Wowzers!  This last week was a busy one, but I feel like that every time it’s a short week.  Actually, I feel like that every week.  Mostly good stuff except for one little snafu.  The week got off to a bumpy start when I forced myself to admit that the minor tennis injury I suffered last week was not getting any better despite taking it easy.  An ortho friend worked me in and confirmed what had been worrying me:  torn cartilage.  In all honesty, my biggest worry was that I would need surgery, so the diagnosis isn’t all bad.  However, I’m in this lovely brace for the next several weeks and most likely missing a month of running, tennis, etc.  Good thing I love swimming!  It’s been five days since my doctor’s appointment, during which I had my knee drained and received a cortisone shot, and I’m  feeling better today and the swelling is drastically reduced.  Hopefully I will continue to heal and surgery will not be mentioned at my follow up appointment next month.  I feel old.  I turn 40 this year and I can’t help but think the writing is on the wall.  img_6229-e1551067571356.jpgOn a brighter note, I attended the Everything Embroidery Market Thursday at the TD Convention Center and I left feeling so inspired and motivated.  How fun to be with a bunch of other people with the same love of monogramming who are willing to share their ideas!  The shopping in between classes and round tables wasn’t too shabby, either.  I did a horrible job taking pictures because I was too busy soaking in all of the information filling my head.  Here’s the one shot I snapped of the vendor area.  I picked up some fun blanks that I’m excited to use in the coming weeks. IMG_6232IMG_6250Bodie wrapped up his first basketball season this weekend.  We loved every second of this season and Bodie is begging to play again.  I’m currently on the hunt for some summer basketball programs for him.  Bodie was fortunate enough to have two of his buddies on his team, which made it extra special.  This picture of the three of them snapped by my sister makes me want to cry.  They are so precious!IMG_6775My sister and her little gremlins came to town to watch Bodie’s basketball game and to go skiing.  My niece and nephew had never been on skis before and my sister hadn’t hit the slopes in over a decade, so a little day trip to Cataloochee was in order.  I’ve written about Cataloochee on this blog before as we are regulars on that hill.  It’s an hour and forty five minutes from Greenville and it’s small enough that Emery can ski the entire mountain by herself without me having to worry about her getting lost.  It is the perfect spot for first timers like Hayes and Kelsey.  Because of my bum knee I wasn’t able to ski, but I had fun hanging out at the bottom of the main drag with an IPA watching my kids and their cousins shredding.  Hayes and Kelsey proved to be quick learners and Alison had a blast skiing with them while remembering how to ski.  She didn’t seem too rusty!  The weather wasn’t great (foggy and rainy), but we all stayed dry in our gear.  IMG_6296I’ve decided to use my unplanned downtime catching up on all the admin stuff that I should be doing for EmeryBodie LLC on a regular basis, but don’t get around to it as frequently as I should.  So far I’ve done a massive computer backup and got a jump on my taxes.  Not fun or glamorous, but needs to be done.  I’m kind of old school when it comes to paperwork.  I still use an actual notebook planner….two of them, actually:  one for day to day life and one strictly for EmeryBodie stuff.  I seem to stay more organized when I utilize tangible objects.  So, this scene may seem a bit chaotic, but it makes sense to me.  Whatever works, right?!  IMG_6260Here’s to a SUNNY and productive week!
