We had a few calm days after New Year’s before school started so I decided to jump on this vision board trend. If you’re not familiar with a vision board, it’s basically a collage of dreams and goals. Here’s a brief explanation from Oprah’s site:

What exactly is a vision board? Put simply: It’s a visual representation of your goals, says media and life coach Zakiya Larry. These typically poster-sized visuals contain all kinds of images and text that represent something you’re trying to accomplish.

Zakiya Larry expounds further:

Don’t confuse it with a mood board, though. While similar, they are not one in the same. A mood board is more of a planning tool used for aesthetics—decorating a room or planning a party scheme. A vision board, on the other hand, relates to your life direction.

Emery and I went to Publix to gather some magazines and poster boards and got to work. With assistance, of course.

Vision Board (early phase)

My main focus is travel and house projects. We have some loose ends from the porch renovation that need to be addressed, such as new doors. Y’all…doors are EXPENSIVE! Since they weren’t completely necessary for the new porch to function, they were put on the back burner. Ideally, we’d like sliders. That being said, I’d be happy with some French doors.

I also want to completely overhaul the kitchen. This is probably not in the budget, but a girl can dream. We did a very cosmetic remodel of the kitchen about ten years ago. I still love the glass cabinet doors (we had them in our first house, too, and would totally do them again), but I regret the black countertops. They are impossible to keep clean. I also really wanted to bring the cabinets all the way to the ceiling to make the room appear taller, but it wasn’t possible without getting all new upper cabinets. Thirdly, I want new appliances. Especially the La Cornue range. I’d also love a microwave that fits the space. I’m embarrassed to admit this, but our microwave died years ago and we never bothered to get the trim kit for the replacement. It’s an eyesore that bothers me daily. Hopefully my vision board serves as a reminder to address that situation!

Bodie’s bathroom is the last bathroom in the house to be renovated. He is in middle school now and occasionally mentions he’d like his bathroom to be more like his sister’s. So, I clipped a few pictures of elements I’d love to see in his space. He approved all of them, especially the “plaid” tile floor.

Vision Board

As for travel, I’d love to take the kids to Chicago for a few days this summer. It’s one of my favorite cities and they’ve never been. A tropical vacation is also on the agenda as well as a fall break trip to Universal. And obviously a ski trip!

The treadmill is pretty self explanatory. I need to increase my step count on the days I don’t go for a run or the gym. The thought of just heading down to the basement for a quick walk/run is very appealing.

The girl boss at her computer is my reminder to treat EmeryBodie like a business rather than a hobby.

Vision Board (complete)

I had a lot of fun creating this. Curious if anyone else made a 2024 vision board. If so, please share! I’m excited to see what transpires. The vision board is currently on display in the kitchen, but I plan to move it around to keep things fresh. I’ll hang in my monogramming cave next and then maybe my bathroom.

Happy Thursday! Thank goodness this is a short week.
