We made our annual trek to CO for some skiing last week with hubby’s family and had the best trip ever. The conditions were prime….not too cold, tons of fresh powder, and some sunshine! The kids are all able to ski the entire mountain, carry their own gear and get themselves completely dressed, right down to their ski boots. Anyone who has ever taken a ski trip with kids can attest to the magnitude of this feat. Our only hiccup: that we couldn’t stay longer. Due to the school schedule, we could only manage to stay four nights. Emery, Bodie and their cousins all missed two days of school. As the kids get older and into the higher grades, missing more than a day or two of school is not really an option. I’m hopeful that Greenville County schools will include a mid winter break like many other school districts in the country before too long. I know I say this every year, but I really can’t recommend Steamboat enough for a family ski vacation. It’s such an easy destination with many direct flights into Hayden from Atlanta, Chicago, Minneapolis, Denver, etc., and the mountain is very doable for all levels. Plus, the ski school is excellent. The town of Steamboat Springs still has a western feel to it, but with plenty of options for dining. We stayed at One Steamboat Place like we do every year and they spoiled us yet again. This trip will be tough to beat!
