Happy Tuesday! Rather than recap a trip, I thought I’d share the short list of places on my radar. When I say “short list” I mean I want to visit these spots within the next 24 months. Not surprisingly, it’s a mix of beaches and mountains.

I’ve tried to book the Dunmore on Harbour Island multiple times over the years and it is always full. I think it closes for several months each year, which doesn’t help. I need Ben to nail down a date and plan better. More often than not, when the two of us go on a trip, it’s last minute. That’s not going to fly when booking The Dunmore. We’ve been to the Bahamas more times than I can count, but never Harbour Island. I need to remedy that ASAP.

Another beachy spot for an adult getaway that made my short list is The Cloister on Sea Island, Georgia. Like the Dunmore, I’ve tried to reserve The Cloister several times, both for adult and family trips, and it’s always booked. The Cloister is one of those resorts with iconic status. Like The Breakers in West Palm, which I adore. It’s been around for ages and has attracted US Presidents and even hosted the G8 Summit. My sister and her husband visited several years ago and still gush about their adventure to nearby Cumberland Island: wild horses, an extremely rare sighting of a Right Whale and her calf, plus the church where JFK Jr., married Caroyln Bessette. The Cloister packed them a picnic lunch to enjoy. The spa, the restaurants, the activities…everyone raves about The Cloister. Bonus: it’s within driving distance for us.

Moving on to mountain locales…I can’t decide which spot is at the top of my list: The Four Seasons in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, or The Montage in Big Sky, Montana. Either place would be a family ski trip and both would be new states for the kids. Ben and I have been to both, but not these exact hotels.

I honestly might flip a coin if Ben gives me the go ahead to plan a ski trip. As much as we love Steamboat and Deer Valley, I’d like for the kids to experience something new. If I had to choose at this exact minute, I think I’d book Big Sky. The Montage seems like heaven on earth for my kids. They even have a golf simulator! And bowling.
