Travel Tuesday: Nantucket with my Girls

I just returned from a magical girls trip to Nantucket. TBH, all of my trips with this group of ladies are magical. We have that kind of camaraderie and could have a blast anywhere, but a Nantucket backdrop certainly doesn’t hurt.

This is our seventh annual trip together and our first to New England. I have a feeling it won’t be our last, although our wallets may need some time to recover. We stayed at The Wauwinet, which was fabulous. It’s a Chateau and Relais property, so we knew it would be incredible. Their sister property in town, The White Elephant, is also elegant and accommodating, but we enjoyed not being in the middle of all the hustle and bustle. We particularly loved the daily port and cheese offerings at 4:00.

Getting to Nantucket could not have been easier. I flew directly from Greenville to LaGuardia on Delta. I had about an hour and ten minutes in NY and then I hopped on the forty minute flight to Nantucket. The Nantucket airport is small and adorable. My bag arrived quickly. Taxis were lined up outside to whisk us off to lunch at Cru. Piece of cake! Speaking of Cru, it’s delicious. And the waterfront location in the marina is beautiful.

I loved all of our time on the island, but I think my favorite activity was biking to Sconset from our hotel. The town, beach and houses are all so charming! We loved Sconset so much that we went back there for dinner at Summer House Inn. The piano player in the bar was incredible and the overall atmosphere at Summer House was lively and fun. I definitely recommend stopping by for a nightcap.

Lunch at Claudette’s consisted of a meatloaf sandwich and a Nantucket Cran (purchased at another shop). Delicious!

We spent an afternoon at Cisco Brewers, which is such a cool concept. Beer tents and food stands and live music and friendly people and lots of dogs…heaven on earth! It’s a bit out of the way, but a Cisco shuttle bus runs from the visitors center in town pretty regularly.

Nantucket is home to many fun cars. Emery loves these robin’s egg blue Broncos, and they were everywhere! I had to snap a few pictures to show her.

My girls and I loved wandering around downtown. Of course we had to pay a visit to Mitchell’s Book Corner in hopes of running into Elin Hilderbrand. She wasn’t there, but my friend did buy a signed copy of Swan Song.

Every person we encountered during our weekend was lovely. Nantucket is beautiful and so are its residents. I will definitely be back.

Have a great week!
