Travel Tuesday: Credit One Charleston Open Tennis Tournament

As you know, I love tennis. It’s a hobby I picked up once my kids were out of elementary school and my mom duties during the day decreased (but don’t worry, evenings are insane). Am I good? No. But oh how I love my tennis friends! It’s a great workout and fills my social bucket at the same time. Also? The clothes are cute.

Several months ago one of my teammates suggested that we all head to Charleston together and attend opening day of COCO. CHS is an easy drive from Greenville and one of our other teammates offered up her beautiful family home on Isle of Palms for the weekend. It was a no brainer.

I arrived late Friday (the rest of the girls were there for dinner, but I wanted to see my kids after school and eat with them) and enjoyed a glass of wine before we all turned in. Friday was hot and sunny….Saturday not so much. We woke to very windy, cool and cloudy conditions.

We threw on extra layers and headed to Daniel Island!

Thankfully, not too long after we arrived at the venue the weather decided to behave. The sun came out and Charleston felt like Charleston.

COCO

We watched several matches and I was thoroughly entertained. This was my first professional tennis tournament! I think even non-tennis fans would enjoy this event. The level of talent is obviously next level, but the shopping and food added to the experience. The Brackish booth was where I was tempted to do the most damage, but I showed remarkable restraint.

The food options were excellent with many local food trucks all over the property. My friend, Amy, was thrilled with her fried okra and banana pudding. She shared!

We arranged for a chef to prepare dinner at the house for us Saturday evening, which was delightful. We were all ready for comfy clothes and relaxation after our busy day at the COCO. Our lovely hostess taught us all a new game: Sequence. It’s so much fun!

Between Mahjong, Rummikub, Euchre, and now sequence I’m in my game playing era. My kids love them all, too!

We were up early Sunday morning and I was home by lunch. It was a quick trip, but every second was fabulous. I highly recommend the Charleston Open for tennis and non-tennis fans alike!
