Happy Tuesday! This is a combo Travel Tuesday and book review post. Per usual, we went to Steamboat Springs, CO, for spring break. Since I’ve shared this destination many times over the years, I don’t feel as though I have any new information. Instead, I will just share some photos of the beautiful blue skies and slushy snow. Conditions were not ideal for skiing, but we made the most of it. Besides, I’ll take warm and sunny any day!

Happy St. Patty’s Day!

When not skiing, we watched a lot of basketball. I also read a fabulous book and started another novel that I am loving. The Perfect Hosts by Heather Gudenkauf is the consummate vacation book: beautiful scenery, juicy gossip and a murder. What more could you want? I have no idea how this is my first Heather Gudenkauf book. She has quite the catalog and I will definitely read more of her works. Here’s the Amazon blurb about The Perfect Hosts:
Is it a boy or a girl? They would die to know…
Madeline and Wes Drake have invited two hundred of their closest friends and family to their sprawling horse ranch for the most anticipated event of the year: a “pistols and pearls” gender reveal party so sensational it is sure to make headlines. But the party descends into chaos when the celebratory explosive misfires, leaving one woman dead and a trail of secrets.
As the aftershocks of the bloody party ripple across the small town, Agent Jamie Saldano is brought on the scene to investigate. Battling his own demons from the past, Saldano unearths a web of deceit spun around the Drakes. The appearance of some unexpected houseguests only deepens the mystery. And as tensions mount, it becomes clear that the explosion wasn’t just an unlucky accident. But who was the target, and why? As the shadow of a killer looms, the happy parents-to-be must unravel the truth before it’s too late.

The other novel I brought with me to Steamboat is The Shark Club by Ann Kidd Taylor. This book was included in a list of fiction titles set in the South. Since I love sharks, this immediately jumped out at me. I’m about 3/4 through and I love it. I’ll post a complete review once I finish. In the meantime, read it for yourself here: https://amzn.to/4c2H3rA

I hope your week is productive and happy!

I like the mix of travel and book reviews. Any specific spots you’d recommend visiting?
For skiing as a family, we love Steamboat. Our favorite beachy spots are 30A (Watercolor Inn) for within the US. For outside the US, Grand Cayman is tough to beat.
