Last weekend the kids and I headed to my hometown of Atlanta to play tourists, which is something we haven’t done in ages. We stayed with my sister and had so much fun that I barely took any pictures. Here’s what I did manage to snap….first stop: Centennial Park. Back when Atlanta was preparing to host the 1996 Olympics, my grandmother (Nanny) bought Alison and me a brick in Centennial Park. I hadn’t made my way to my brick in many years, but we made the effort on this scorcher of an afternoon. Crazy how time flies.

After the park, we headed over to the Georgia Aquarium. Not going to lie: the aquarium was almost too crowded to enjoy. Seriously packed. However, we’ve been numerous times and really just wanted to see the new shark exhibit, Predators of the Deep. The new tank is home to Great Hammerheads and Tiger Sharks!!!!! AHHHH!!!! I’ve always wanted to see a Tiger Shark. Now I need to book a diving experience in this tank. I didn’t get a good picture of a Tiger Shark, unfortunately.

The Braves game Sunday afternoon was the highlight of the weekend! Not only did the Braves win, it was their eleventh victory in a row. They went on to win fourteen in a row, which is an impressive streak. Temperatures were toasty, but our seats were mostly in the shade, so we were fine. Braves games are selling out in record numbers! I’m glad we were able to get tickets last minute.
Not only did the Braves earn a W, my Irish clenched a berth to Omaha for the College World Series that same afternoon. Congrats, Irish! Notre Dame was the underdog against Tennessee, so this was quite a surprise.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that Knute joined us on this trip. Emery doesn’t trust her dad to take adequate care of the dog (TBH, neither do I), so he came to Atlanta. Here he is chilling with us at my sister’s neighborhood pool. Hard to believe he was a street dog just thirteen months ago. Now he is ROTTEN. Please notice his shadow on my leg in the photo. I can’t handle it.
