Our weather is slowly but surely cooling down and I can’t resist the urge to sprinkle a few touches of fall around the house any longer. As much as I love summer, fall is definitely my favorite season: gorgeous weather, football, back to school, the cozy smells and Halloween. What’s not to love?
I don’t think I’m going to go full throttle with the decorations this year because our family room is in a state of disarray due to redecorating…and the furniture supply disaster. Between the discombobulated look of the house and the fact that Halloween is on a Sunday (no big trick or treating party since kids have school the next day), I don’t see any parties in my near future. However, I did pull out some of my favorite items over the weekend.

I bought these jack o lantern lamp shades from Ballard Designs ages ago and they never fail to bring a smile to my face. They’re such an unexpected bit of flair and look great with the lights on or off.

Hi Sugarplum posted these velvet pumpkins from Amazon last week and I couldn’t hit “add to cart” quickly enough! I typically fill this giant silver urn on my dining room table with real pumpkins (a mix of mini white and orange) each September and leave them on display until Thanksgiving, but when I saw the colors of these faux pumpkins I knew they belonged in my house. It’s like they were made for me!
I sent a photo of the pumpkins to my sister and she immediately responded with this photo:

Yup! She bought them, too. Alison placed her new pumpkins in her home office and they look fabulous. We both adore everything Hi Sugarplum (www.hisugarplum.com) shares. My pink front door was made for this Tobacco Leaf pumpkin hanger, don’t you think? TomTom and Company posted this new release on Instagram a while back and my jaw hit the floor. My all time favorite china pattern combined with pumpkins?!?!?! Sign me up! Here’s another way I like to mix Tobacco Leaf and pumpkins….

…hearty chili served in pumpkin tureens with a Tobacco Leaf salad plate underneath. My dinner plate pattern is Kilbarry Platinum by Waterford. I love to mix and match my china and chargers!

Not exactly fall decor, but the dogs had to get in on the action as well. This is Knute’s first football season with us and he needed some Irish gear. Knute looks quite spiffy in his Notre Dame shirt, but poor Gipper’s is as snug as a sausage casing. Bless his heart…I ordered an XXL. Big dog problems.
Side note: I’m well aware that my beloved Irish are not looking great this season. I don’t need reminders. However, I will NEVER be a fair weather fan and will force my dogs to wear these shirts every Saturday until December.

The pumpkins in the photo with Gipper and Knute are from our yard! We tossed our rotting pumpkins at the back of our property last fall and this happened. What a happy accident. I’ve actually picked a few more since I snapped this photo.

Nobody does autumnal soap better than Bath and Body Works. I’d be hard pressed to pick a favorite, but this one is near the top of the leader board. If you’re going to wash your hands five hundred times per day, you may as well make it fun.
Happy Tuesday!
