Just in time for the Kentucky Derby, the mint in my garden exploded. I’ve got enough mint to keep the entire state of South Carolina in juleps. I couldn’t resist cutting some of my roses and mint to display in Ben’s and Bodie’s mint julep cups. How cute that Bodie has a julep cup to match his daddy’s? Of course Bodie has never actually used his, but it’s adorable. I’m still in shock over the derby.
My house received some fun touch ups last week: two new rugs and some Butler’s pantry glam.I can’t get enough of this shiny black lacquer paint paired with the black grasscloth wallpaper and the gorgeous fun wallpaper on the ceiling. I need to get a new light and accessories, but this quick snapshot gives you the gist. The hot pink (BM Razzle Dazzle) doors really pop now!
Not as glamorous, but equally satisfying: water bottle organizers. I ordered these on Amazon and they have made packing lunches and snacks much easier. No more digging around and knocking things over. I chose the stackable kind from MDesign and they’re wonderful.
Our weather is officially hot and my kids are desperate to play in the water, so…..
hey, whatever works, right? They’re outside burning energy and the dog is having fun, too. Win win.
I’ve gradually been replacing my makeup with Beautycounter products the past several months in an effort to reduce all of the toxins we encounter on a daily basis (sunscreen!!!! hormones! pesticides!!!!) and I am pleased to report that I like these products even more than their less healthy counterparts. The bronzer and blush (guava) are incredible and the lipstick feels great. I like sheer lipsticks that I can swipe on without having to be careful and that don’t look out of place with my typical casual mom gear. A dear friend of mine is a Beautycounter rep and invited me to a fun event downtown yesterday. The CEO of Beautycounter spoke and I got to try all sorts of products. Now I’m eager to switch out my current tinted moisturizer and eyebrow pencil for Beautycounter products. I also LOVE that their products use the least amount of plastic possible. That’s all for now…..heading up to the school (again. I think I’m there every day!) for a volunteer luncheon and then back home to stitch more grad gifts. I hope you’re having a productive week!
