Despite feeling like poop the past few days, I’ve actually managed to get some monogramming done and throw together a last minute dinner with some friends to celebrate Chipper Jones’s election into the baseball Hall of Fame. Btw, Chipper is in an EXTRA elite club because this was his first appearance on the ballot. Congratulations, Chipper! This is so deserved. Having been raised in Atlanta, I am a huge Braves fan. Of course this reached epic levels in the early 90s when they went from worst to first and became National League champions. Fast forward a few years later and a young Chipper helped the Braves win the 1995 World Series, which launched him into super stardom and he basically became the face of the franchise. He spent his entire career with the Braves and still lives in Atlanta to this day. I am thrilled Bodie will play baseball again this spring. I wonder if I can get him to bat from both sides of the plate like Chipper?!
My centerpiece last night consisted of my signed Chipper book, a foam Tomahawk, two baseball cards, and some of Bodie’s gloves, bats and balls. I wanted to run to Publix to grab some peanuts and cracker jacks, but time slipped away. Story of my life!
This signed photo hangs in my monogramming room. I won it at a slient auction several years ago. Hubs wasn’t thrilled with the bidding, but I wasn’t leaving without it. Besides, it was a fundraiser for Arizona Children’s Charities.
Last April, my sister and I stood in line at Barnes and Noble in Vinings (Atlanta) to have Chipper sign our copies of Ballplayer. We brought our kids and they were in awe.
While scrolling through old photos to locate these book signing pictures, I stumbled across this image of a baby Gipper curled up with a four year old Bodie. They still sleep like this every night….Bodie with his Froggie and Gipper snuggled up next to him. However, Gipper now takes up the entire bed. #throwbackthursday
This fun clipboard is an Etsy order. I love these! Personalized gifts are extra special.
My stitching this week consisted mostly of baby boy gifts for a precious family about to welcome their third son. The nursery is charcoal and gold, which was a fun departure from the usual shades of blue I tend to use on baby boy items. I found all of these burp cloths, swaddling blankets and hooded towels on Amazon. They are organic cotton from Burt’s Bees and oh-so-soft. Makes my ovaries hurt! I kid, I kid. Sort of.
That’s all for today….busy afternoon and evening ahead of us. This full week of school is brutal!
