I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving! We certainly did. I am incredibly thankful for so much….namely our health, family and friends. I hosted Thanksgiving at our house this year and every single guest was from out of town. I wanted to make our dinner quintessentially Greenville, so I set the table with little mice from Mice on Main. If you’re not familiar with this precious story, it began in 2000 when a high school student implemented the idea for his senior project. The student, Jim Ryan, was inspired by the nine mice in his favorite childhood book, Goodnight Moon. Nine little bronze mice are discreetly placed on Main Street and the accompanying book, Mice on Main, provides clues and the background story. Finding the mice is such a fun way to explore downtown. I purchased the mice at Mast General Store. We’ve had the book for ages. It was a baby shower gift from when I was pregnant with Emery.
We had Ben’s parents and youngest brother, my parents and Nanny, my sister and her husband and their two kids, plus my little family and a few extra dogs all in attendance. It was chaos, but delightful!
I tried to set the table all fancy and elegant, but had to cave on the outside. Up went the inflatable turkey.
Gipper and his BFF really enjoyed sleeping in the guest room. They’re not usually allowed in there!
Future crazy cat ladies
The day after Thanksgiving, my sister and I took the kids downtown to the new Organic Cat Cafe. This place houses a bunch of kittens and adults cats, some of which are available for adoption. They are all super sweet and social. Emery and Kelsey donned their best cat attire and loved every second with the kitties. Hayes and Bodie were more interested in the games for humans.
I ended the weekend by putting up our downstairs Christmas tree. I have a confession: our bedroom trees have been up for weeks.
Happy Cyber Monday! It’s the beginning of the most wonderful time of the year!
P.S. I am SO excited that another royal wedding is in the works! Anybody else????
