We spent a glorious spring break in our happy place: Steamboat Springs, CO. And this time we went with a bunch of Greenville peeps! We loved sharing our favorite ski town with dear friends.

It’s been a few years since we skied during spring and, wow, did I forget how much I love it! What could be better than blue skies, sunshine and pleasant temperatures??? My hubby and kids thought the snow was too slushy by the end of the day, but I am willing to trade better snow for better temps.
Emery and Bodie were so thrilled to show their friends the ropes that they immediately donned their gear and when night skiing upon arrival. Not sure where Emery was when I took this picture, but she definitely joined them on the slopes that night.
Night skiing

We stayed at our usual spot, One Steamboat Place, and enjoyed the amenities and location just as much as we always do. One of the nicest perks is being able to get a ride to anywhere in town that’s not within walking distance. I took a car to City Market early Sunday morning and avoided all of the Saturday craziness. Pro tip: don’t go shopping on your arrival day. Order pizza from Wild Plum and grab a few breakfast goodies when you pick up the pizza. City Market (it’s a Kroger store) is a scene on a Saturday.
We tend to do a lot of cooking on ski trips since the kitchens are so nice at One Steamboat Place and because the kids are always chomping at the bit to go night skiing. Between skiing all day, a mountain coaster ride or two, pool time and night skiing, we don’t have a lot of room to fit in dinner! Also, reservations are tough to get during the times we would like, so eating in it is!

The meals are simple and comforting: Ben’s all day ribs, chicken noodle soup, chili, egg casserole, bacon, etc. We typically get lunch on the mountain so we don’t have to miss any skiing, but breakfast and dinner are in the room.
I am so proud of all of the kids on the trip! They all skied hard and logged plenty of hours on the mountain. Some of the littles were beginners, but they were hanging with the other kids by the end of the week and skiing all sorts of terrain.
Greenville Invasion

I don’t ever recall spending so much time outside on a ski trip when not actually skiing!
Hanging out in Steamboat Springs

I was SO ready for the hot tub and a good book at the end of each day.

I wore my Lynx bracelet and anklet the entire trip without any issues. I was a little worried the anklet would be bothersome in a ski boot, but it was fine.

I love my permanent jewelry! Hot tubs, gloves, long johns, socks and boots….I never even gave my welded jewelry a second thought.
The sun was so intense one of the afternoons we dined outside that I didn’t feel like my sunscreen was sufficient, even after reapplying. My *sweet* children went into the nearest store and purchased me a hat. I was touched until they informed me they settled for this particular hat because they couldn’t find one that said, “ski like a grandma.” Oof. To embarrass them, I wore it on the flights home.
Ski Like a Girl. Or Grandma.

Til next time, Steamboat!
