Spring Refresh and Gipper’s Birthday

Today feels like a Friday and I’m okay with that!  Emery doesn’t have school tomorrow, so I’ll only have to deal with one morning routine instead of two.  So much easier when it’s just one mask, Chromebook, lunch, snack and water bottle to pack.

My fur child celebrated his fifth birthday Tuesday.  I can’t believe Gipper is five.  We had the best time celebrating him all afternoon.  The kids and I took him to the Pet Store and let him pick out new toys and bones.  Then we came home for cake with his bestie and lots of playing in the sunshine.  The weather Tuesday was amazing:  high seventies and sunny.

Gipper’s Birthday

Gipper received a new toy basket several months ago and I still think it’s the cutest one available.  I found it on Amazon (of course) and had a difficult time choosing a color because they’re all so pretty.  The “natural” color in the medium size works best in my house.  The hyacinth blends in with the rest of my decor and looks great in our family room.  Linked here:  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MZ7ZE19/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B01MZ7ZE19&linkCode=as2&tag=emerybodie-20&linkId=019e39c13720302d1ab6b906c9c2e268

The bone shape is precious!

Speaking of Amazon, Santa brought Emery and Bodie a neon Connect 4 game for Christmas and it’s been a big hit.  The colors are so fun that I leave it sitting out on the coffee table.  The kids and their friends play matches regularly because it’s not tucked away in the game cabinet.  Out of sight, out of mind, right?  Anthropologie has a Lucite version available and I love the looks of it, but I can’t justify the price.  Amazon to the rescue!

The Amazon version is much more wallet friendly at only $25.  Linked here:  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MMP1XCX/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B07MMP1XCX&linkCode=as2&tag=emerybodie-20&linkId=da9d72144f44e5317eedf9b826713e71

I’ve purchased more of these twice in the past few weeks for birthday gifts for the kids’ friends.  I add an Amazon gift card to it and I think it makes for a pretty nice little present.

The other big news around these parts this week (obviously Gipper’s birthday is the biggest news) is that I finally got a new desk for our study.  The former desk had taken a beating and was just too dark and heavy for the space.

Old Desk

I knew I wanted something white and with legs.  Ballard Designs came through with the perfect fit!  I saw the Kelley desk on their web site and immediately knew it was THE ONE.

Assembly was easy.  I did it all by myself (with Gipper’s supervision) and it took less than an hour.

Here’s the finished product!  My adorable neighbors photo bombed my shoot.  This room is getting a bit of a refresh, thanks to the master bathroom leak that ruined the ceiling.  I’ll be sure to share the final result when it’s all complete.

Have a great Thursday!
