Small Business Saturday: Modern Forestry

Modern Forestry is a local candle company here in South Carolina that produces the most amazing candles and they’re all totally safe; no icky chemicals. I am pleased as punch that my fall and holiday scents are here! “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” is my motto, so I stuck with the best sellers (and my personal favorites) from last year: Pumpkin Streusel and Deck the Halls. Orange Pomander is also on my shelves again. This is a great option for people who want a Christmas scent that doesn’t smell like a Christmas tree. New to the lineup is Hazelnut Pumpkin. Spoiler: it’s incredible.

Fall Favorites

First up, the fall scents. Here’s what Modern Forestry has to say about Hazelnut Pumpkin:

Hazelnut coffee is delicious and we wanted to bring an additional dimension to this scent for our fall line. Hazelnut Pumpkin is a blend of sweet pumpkin, rich hazelnuts, and dark coffee. A little pumpkin pastry, fresh brewed Hazelnut Coffee, makes for a fun fall favorite with the warmth of spice hints that come from essential oils infused including nutmeg and cinnamon leaf. Enjoy this scent on a crisp fall morning as you start your day.

Emery already claimed Hazelnut Pumpkin as her all time fave.

Next, a scent I’ve carried three years in a row, Pumpkin Streusel. I start burning this baby the second Labor Day ends and don’t stop until Black Friday. Per Modern Forestry’s web site:

All things pumpkin signify fall is here and the holidays are not far behind. Queue baking season! Pumpkin Streusel is the perfect sweet, authentic, delicious goodness, that encapsulates the essence of fall. With notes of brown sugar and molasses, and the fragrant spices of nutmeg and cinnamon leaf essential oils infused, is sure to make your family and friends think you have been working hard in the kitchen all day!

Christmas/Winter Candles

Moving along to Christmas…holiday get togethers will be here before you know it and these candles make the perfect hostess gift. They’re also great for gifting teachers!

Deck the Halls is a fabulously festive scent. Although I love Orange Pomander, I burn Deck the Halls exclusively beginning the day after Thanksgiving and straight through until New Years Day. Then I switch to Orange Pomander for the rest of winter. It’s a clean, fresh scent. But don’t take my word for it. Straight from the horse’s mouth….

“Deck the Halls with boughs of holly falalalala lalalala…” Yep, we sing the tune when we see the name, too! This scent is a Christmas best-seller among customers, capturing the smells (and memories) of Christmas Eve. Outside caroling on a cold winter night, coming home to sip on a warm cup of hot chocolate. We hope you enjoy this beautiful woodsy scent infused with essential oils including fir, cinnamon leaf, clove leaf, and patchouli.

And Modern Forestry’s thoughts on Orange Pomander:

If you’ve never heard of it, a pomander is an orange pierced with cloves. It’s a holiday classic in many places, but completely unexpected in a candle. As soon as we poured our first Orange Pomander candle we fell in love, and we’re so excited to include this beautiful deep orange citrus scent warm with spices as a holiday scent that can extend far beyond just Christmas. This scent satisfies all the Christmas nostalgia while still spreading a beautiful balance of orange scent across your room throughout multiple seasons.

Modern Forestry sells many, many wonderful candles, but these four scents stand out to me. You can shop them here: https://emerybodie-llc.myshopify.com/products/seasonal-candles
