I truly do not remember a time when we’ve had this much rain in the southeast. Everything is soggy and muddy, if not totally underwater. I am so eager to see some sun and dry out a bit! Hopefully this weekend. All of this rain has made for some delightful monogramming weather, so that’s a plus. I haven’t felt much like leaving the house. Monogramming by tree light while Hallmark Christmas movies play in the background isn’t a bad way to spend a cold, rainy day. Or three.
These are some of the items I stitched out these past few days…
This is one of my favorite new baby gifts: a zipper bag to toss in a diaper bag to easily locate some crucial items: diaper cream, gas drops, Motrin and wipes. Shoot! I just realized I forgot to grab a small bottle of hand sanitizer. That’s a must. Blakely’s big brothers are getting their own Dopp kits, but without all the baby supplies.
This cat is SUCH a cat. He really goes out of his way to make things difficult. He’s lucky he’s so cute.
Tuesday evening I braved the elements to attend my tennis team’s end of the season party at a friend’s house. My contribution was dessert, of course. I made Ina Garten’s Couer a la Creme. This is one of my favorites because it’s delicious and looks fancy, but is actually pretty easy to make. Most of the work is done the night before because it has to sit in the fridge overnight. I can’t get this picture to rotate. Sigh.
Several months ago I dropped off bags and bags of my children’s monogrammed baby/toddler clothes at a quilter’s house. She gave me instructions on how much batting and fabric to purchase for the back and edges of the quilt and I immediately got busy. I couldn’t find anything I loved at any of the fabric stores, so I ended up ordering a bunch from Etsy and I could not be happier. Bodie’s quilt has a marine animal theme and Emery’s is Lilly Pulitzer, naturally. I used the same aqua polka dot for the edges of both. This was not a cheap project, but I justified the price because I know I’ll cherish these forever.
Happy Thursday!
