We went to Piney Mountain Bike Lounge not once, but twice, this past weekend. Piney Mountain is a bike shop and taproom with a super fun pump track out back for the kids. Various food trucks are in the parking lot most days. And it’s dog friendly. It’s basically the best possible way to spend a late summer day. Ben and I took the kids Saturday morning and they had so much fun that they begged to go back Sunday while their cousins were in town. So, we did just that. I’m happy to report that Hayes and Kelsey loved it as much as Emery and Bodie. It’s only about fifteen minutes from our house and now that Bodie has a super cool mountain bike like his sister, I have a feeling we’ll be at this spot regularly.

My mountain bike is an ancient Schwinn from my college days. Since I really only use it for biking with the kids to the pool or along the Swamp Rabbit Trail, I’ve never felt the need to upgrade. It’s an antique! I’ve got a nice road bike for triathlons and serious rides. However, I found the bike of my dreams at Piney Mountain. Trying to figure out a way to justify the price tag…..

I filled in for the secretary at Em’s school for a few hours this afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I met some super sweet kids and parents and learned more about the school. Also, I got a lot of work done! I finished an article I’ve been working on for our neighborhood magazine.
My thoughtful neighbor brought me one of these drinks from Trader Joe’s last night and I brought it with me to school. It’s pretty tasty! Definitely a stronger vinegar taste than cucumber/mint, but a fun break from water. And healthy.
We’re cruising through this week! Emery started hip hop today and Bodie starts baseball tomorrow. Whew! I love it, though.
