TGIF! We survived our first “week” of school (thank goodness it was only two days) and are excited to resume our sporty summer activities this weekend. I am so very grateful that I did not have to encourage my kids to get outside during the break from school. Between the pool, golf, basketball, football, tennis, pickleball, soccer and fishing they stayed active. Sitting in a classroom all day is going to be a huge adjustment.
First Day of School (10th and 7th)

Emery played more tennis than ever this summer. She’s always enjoyed tennis and drops in to the clinics at our club each summer, but she was all in this summer. She truly fell in love with the sport and never wanted to miss a day. She’s actually in the midst of tryouts for her school’s team right now. Fingers crossed.
Em and our Beloved Pro, Patricia

Speaking of tennis, I am dipping my toe back into the tennis world. My sweet friend is captaining a combo team this summer and I realized if I ever want to play on a team again, this is the best place to start. All of the ladies are super sweet and we’re having a lot of (hot) fun. I hadn’t played in ages, but Emery’s passion for it this summer had me itching to get out there, too. I took a few lessons with Em and join my teammates for practice whenever I can. I’ve played two matches so far (won one, lost one) and can honestly say I am hooked.

Bodie lives for summer golf. He is at the age where we feel comfortable letting him play a round with buddies minus adults. After several seasons of junior golf, he knows the rules and etiquette well enough. He begs to go to the driving range every day, even the days he plays 18. Bodie was a part of a crew that represented Greenville at a tournament in Columbia several weeks ago. He was super nervous, but the Greenville kids played well. As much as he loves playing with his friends, his favorite partner is his dad.

Something new and different for me: a bungee exercise class! A friend planned this for a few of us to celebrate a birthday and I loved it. Emery was so angry I went without her, so I plan to go back with her and some of her friends. If a bungee studio is in your area, I highly recommend.

I hope you have a great weekend! Emery has driving school all day tomorrow and then she’s working tomorrow evening. Bless her heart. Bodie is, not surprisingly, playing golf.
