Emery’s beautiful smile got even prettier yesterday when her braces were removed. She’s only eight years old and wore the braces on just a few top teeth for the past nine months. Our orthodontist, Dr. Davis, explained that correcting her teeth issues in two phases would be easier, faster and less expensive than waiting for her to hit her teen years. I have to say that this first phase was pretty painless. Em is still at the age where she thought braces were cool and she seldom complained that they bothered her. Truly. I think we had one evening after a tightening when she said her mouth was sore. At any rate, we were both very excited to see her straight pearly whites yesterday.
Em and Doctor Buddy. I love the bowtie theme throughout the office.
Emery uses Davis Orthodontics here in Greer and they are such a fun practice. As we left yesterday Em was given a Starbucks gift card, plus a boatload of popcorn, caramels and Laffy Taffy–all stuff she couldn’t eat with braces. We went directly to Starbucks where Gipp got in on the action, too.
Emery is now the proud owner of a retainer and she asked me to monogram her retainer case. Be still my heart. I’m sure she’ll misplace this by the end of the week.
I stumbled upon this picture yesterday on Instagram and I now have a new bucket list item: take a cruise on the Lilly Pulitzer yacht. Or better yet, own it! I wish I could figure out a way to get down to Key Largo to see this thing in person this weekend.
My house is a bit of a construction zone today. Our soon-to-be mudroom project officially started this morning. Gipper isn’t too sure about all of the noise (breaking up tiles and knocking out cabinets) and this billowing plastic sheet is giving him all sorts of anxiety. Thankfully, his buddy, Sandy came to his rescue and invited him to play at his house for a few hours.
Adding to the chaos is a major sewer replacement/repaving project that’s been going on in my neighborhood for months. Wouldn’t you know the crews reached my stretch of road this morning! This created all sorts of logistical problems for my contractor who was trying to get a dumpster and a bunch of supplies delivered while the road was closed. All is well now, although I cannot wait for this road project to be completed. Those trucks were beeping and flashing at 6:00 AM! I’m pooped.
And because the roadwork and demo projects aren’t enough, my wallpaper installer is also here. It’s like the trifecta of home improvements over here. Here’s a sneak peek….
Kind of wild, I know, but the final result is always much less crazy looking than the individual snippets, if that makes sense.
Happy Thursday!
