We rarely go out on New Years Eve. In fact, I don’t think we’ve gone out December 31st since having kids. Instead, we always either host or attend a family friendly party with our nearest and dearest. This year I hosted at my house. Our good friends from Atlanta (our travel buddies) came up with their two daughters (Emery’s close friends!) and two other local couples we do life with also came over. We had eight kids and eight adults and two dogs and a whole bunch of fun. I did a horrible job taking photos, but I had a good time setting the table with my fine china, crystal and sterling. Dinner was comfort food: lasagna, salad, garlic bread and Coeur a la Creme (Ina Garten’s recipe–she’s my idol). The kids feasted on Chick Fil A nuggets and fruit.
So thankful for our friends, families and health. That’s all you need!

The boys were seriously outnumbered.

DIVAS

My horrible photos of the adult dinner. The left photo was taken at the end of the meal and the right photo was taken the next morning. I was happy to score some pretty pink and green roses at Publix on NYE. Shoved them in my favorite mint julep cups and lined them up down the center of the table. Voila.

“Champagne” toast at midnight. All of the kids made it to ring in 2018.

Around 1:00 AM Emery and McKenna crawled into bed. Gipper joined them. Bless their hearts, he takes up 3/4 of the bed.

2018 started off with my MOST FAVORITE THING EVER: an Irish victory! Notre Dame defeated LSU in the Citrus Bowl. How about that catch?!?!?!? The game was close and stressful.

Dinner January 1st was our usual: black eyed peas and collard greens. I love black eyed peas!

2018 is great so far…..minus this frigid weather. Happy New Year!
