Happy Monday! I am seriously under the weather, so this is going to be short and sweet. Besides being exhausted, I don’t have much monogramming to show off today since I spent all last week wrangling kiddos. We are all a little out of whack today seeing as how it’s our first full week of school in over a month. Bodie even asked “do I have school tomorrow” as I tucked him into bed. Yes. Yes, you do.
First up for this week’s Monogram Monday is a fun way to recycle clothes that already have a monogram–applique over that sucker! A friend of mine is mom to three precious girls and I have done quite a bit of monogramming for these sisters over the years. I am so tickled to be able to salvage some of these items. In fact, I think the monogram is even better the second time around! The applique patch really makes it pop. The applique is from www.appliquecafe.com and it’s the petal patch. I shrunk the 4×4 frame size as much as I could and it fit perfectly on this 2T shirt. I adore Applique Cafe’s designs. They stitch beautifully and are all so cute. So many options from which to choose. Plus, Rosemary’s blog is super helpful.
Before…
After…
I probably use polka dots more than any other fabrics when stitching applique designs. The moral of this story (is there one?) is to go ahead and monogram something if you want! Should you ever need to hand the clothes down, it can most likely be fixed.
Another fun monogram project from this past week is the Lilly inspired hairbrushes. I did a bunch of these before Christmas and recently received a request for a few more. These are great little birthday gifts for girls.
We began a kind of major laundry room renovation several weeks ago, but the weather backed us up and now we’re off schedule. Not totally sure when everything will be completed, but he’s how things looked after one day of demo:
We’re moving the washer and dryer to an upstairs closet and converting the former downstairs laundry room into a full fledged mud room. I am so excited to have my laundry room on the same floor as all of our bedrooms! And to have a mud room where the kids can hang their backpacks and lunchboxes and all of their sports stuff in designated spaces. I’ll keep you posted.
Time for me to hit the hay. My Nyquil is kicking in. Good night!
