Monogram Monday and the Super Bowl

Good morning!  Thanks to the Super Bowl, we’re all a bit sluggish today.  I didn’t really have a dog in the fight, so I mostly watched for the commercials and the halftime show.  My favorite commercial was definitely Eli Manning as Johnny Castle.  Seriously, tears of laughter.  My kids and hubs just did not get it.  I guess they’re not familiar enough with Dirty Dancing to appreciate all the little nuances of the commercial.  Oh wow.  Laughing again just thinking about it. Of course JT was phenomenal at halftime.  I loved the Prince tribute.  I was hoping Chris Stapleton would join him for a song, but I’ll take what I can get.

We held a last minute gathering at our house to watch the game.  I ordered Firehouse subs and made Dixie Delight’s pepperoni bread (www.dixiedelightsonline.com) for our main course and just had snacks and fruit set out for our side dishes.  Sorry for the lack of pictures….I guess I was too busy playing Super Bowl bingo!

Somehow hubs and his friend managed to turn the SB party into a bourbon tasting.

I found this Super Bowl Bingo printout on Pinterest just before the game.  Thankfully, I had a bunch of Starbursts on hand to use as markers.  These were supposed to be for Valentine’s Day, but I guess I’ll just have to buy more.  The Bingo items were perfect!  The kids (and adults) had a lot of fun watching for these items to pop up on our television.  I think the winners completed their cards sometime during the second quarter, so this worked out really well seeing as how the kiddos all left just after JT’s performance.

Gipper invited a friend to watch the game with him as well.  They even wore their matching camo vests.

A dear friend turned 40 over the weekend and a bunch of us celebrated her with a surprise birthday dinner at Hall’s Chophouse.  I don’t have any pictures, but it was a fabulous evening with wonderful friends.  Hall’s is my favorite steak place in Greenville, hands down.  The truffle butter is insane.  Besides Super Bowl and 40th birthday shenanigans, my weekend consisted of a lot of reading.  Ive been on a kick lately.  I always read my Book B*tches selection each month, but I’ve currently got two other books in the ix at the moment.  Our weather was so cold and dreary all weekend that I just wanted to lounge around and get lost in these books.

Liane Moriarty is my favorite author at the moment.  I’ve loved all of her books, especially Big Little Lies.  I’m about a third of the way through The Last Anniversary and I’m enjoying it.  I wouldn’t say it’s as gripping as some of Liane’s other works, but I’m definitely curious to find out what happens.  Ugly Love is the first book I’ve read by Colleen Hoover.  It’s a quick, fun read thus far.  This is the epitome of a beach read, in my opinion.  Too bad I’m not on one!   P.S. That bathtub caddy is the bomb.  I purchased it on Amazon and it’s my new go-to gift.  Everyone needs one!

I did quite a bit of monogramming last week, but only managed to snap a picture of these suitcases.  This was my first attempt at monogramming a large rolling luggage and it wasn’t as scary as I thought.  However, holding that big bag in place while stitching was a workout.  My arms were burning by the end of that!

And finally, here’s how Bodie goes to bed every night:  Froggy book, Froggy lovie and faithful mutt.  And usually in my bed.  But that’s okay!  I’m willing to overlook that so long as everything else about his bedtime routine is this sweet.
