Monogram Monday…and the kids are home from school????

Happy Monday!  I had a glorious weekend, but first I must share my shock that my children are home from school today due to weather.  I’m shocked.  I figured we *might* have an early dismissal today, but for the whole day to be called off is surprising.  Yes, we’ve had oddly cold below freezing weather for the past week and there’s a slight chance of rain this afternoon, but things don’t seem dangerous at all.  I wonder just how slick the roads will be this afternoon.  I’ll probably be eating my words.  After all, I’m not a meteorologist!  I don’t mind the extra day of the weekend, but with the kids just going back to school late last week, I’m craving routine.

Speaking of weather, it’s been so cold here that I’ve been worried about Emery’s Chilean Rose Hair tarantula feeling the chill.  So, her terrarium is now on a heating pad…..and Hunter the cat is jealous.  Bless his heart.  I laugh every time I go into Emery’s room and find my big chubby kitty trying to squeeze his rotund body onto the extra inch or so of heating pad that’s sticking out from the bottom of the container.

Of course I made Rosie her very own Lilly Pulitzer decal in First Impression.  And Emery added a pink raffia banner to her habitat.  I’ve reopened my Etsy shop now that I’m caught up on all the holiday craziness.  Should I add a listing for tarantula decals?  Got to be a huge market for those, right?

When Hunter isn’t trying to hijack Rosie’s heating pad, he’s snuggling with me.  He is such a sweet kitty.  I still can’t believe he ended up at my house as a neglected stray.

Back to my glorious weekend and the actual “monogram” portion of Monogram Monday…..I went to Atlanta for a night out with my best friends from high school.  Actually, I’ve known and loved these girls since sixth grade!  Every January we choose a night to go out to dinner and catch up.  It is always my favorite night of the year.  We dined at St. Cecilia in Buckhead, which is delicious and beautiful.  The first time I looked at my watch the time was 11:50.  WHAT!?!?!  I swear, we’d only been sitting and chatting for half an hour.

Love, love, love these girls.  I’m sad that our sixth bestie, Paige, couldn’t make it to dinner.  We missed her horribly, but we’ve all vowed to make this night happen more than once per year.

I wanted to give each of my girls a little surcee (surcie?  I can never seem to definitively find the correct spelling of this word) and, given the horrific temps we’ve endured lately, these monogrammed fleece headbands seem to fit the bill.  Alison and Tara wore theirs as we left the restaurant.
