Happy Monday! This post is a hodgepodge of last week’s activities, which included lots of monogramming with a good dose of social fun mixed in.
Our temperatures are FINALLY cooling a bit, so I had to splurge on some Halloween decor at Wally. I’ve got more stuff to pull out of the attic, but this is a good start. Pretty basic: I hung a skeleton on the door and filled my giant silver gravy boat with mini pumpkins and skulls. I just noticed Gipper’s face behind the glass door!
Emery, Bodie and I took Gipper to visit with some residents at a nursing care and rehabilitation center near our house. We learned about this because the husband of a dear friend recovered from heart surgery there. He mentioned that dogs are welcome, encouraged even, to visit and they are allowed everywhere in the facility. Given Gipper’s sweet disposition, and in an attempt to open my kids’ eyes to things outside of their little bubble, I thought this would be a wonderful activity. Thankfully, I was right. I was a little worried that Gipper would be wild and knock down someone with a walker, but he was super sweet and gentle with the patients. Emery and Bodie loved walking him around to visit and the patients as well as the staff loved seeing him. I totally understand how important it is to boost morale in these settings and I am so happy we were able to help in some small way. We will definitely be back. All I had to do was bring Gipper’s shot record with me. One of the sweet ladies in a wheelchair carries around a little bag of dog treats for visiting pups. Needless to say, Gipper didn’t want to leave her side.
Moving onto the monogram portion of Monogram Monday…..
More golf towels
I’m loving these acrylic post it note holders. These are going to be teacher gifts during the holidays.
Still getting the occasional backpack request
Doggie bandanas!!!!! I’m flipping out over these. A friend asked me if I could add his company’s logo to some dog bandanas for when he takes his pup to work. Of course I had to also stitch a few personalized bandanas for Gipper and Sandy. I’ve gotten requests for more from some of Gipper’s friends, so more pictures to come.
Ben and I were invited to join some friends at Euphoria’s “Seeing Stars” dinner at Soby’s Saturday night. Euphoria is a world class, top notch food festival that takes place in Greenville every September. Many of the events are casual, but this dinner was VERY fancy. The chefs came from all over and they’re all Michelin starred. Here is our menu:
I am decidedly NOT a foodie, nor am I an adventurous eater, so I was a little apprehensive about this event. The tickets were very expensive and I worried it would be a waste of money for me to go. I actually tried everything that was put in front of me, except the duck hearts, and even decided I liked the squid. For the record, the “aged beef” was tongue, which I still haven’t recovered from, but I did try it. All in all, it was a great experience and the wines for fantastic. That being said, I think I’ll stick to my tried and true boring foods for a while.
Well done Soby’s! And thanks to Chris and Kimberley for inviting us!
