Good morning!  I am still enjoying the slow pace of January and tackling a few little (and I do mean “little”) projects that I tend to neglect throughout the year.  It feels so good to check things off my list.  First up, I washed all of my makeup brushes and ran all of my vanity trays and containers through the dishwasher.  Now everything is nice and sparkly!  I know you’re supposed to wash your makeup brushes at least every month, but I am HORRIBLE about this.  I plan to do better this year.  I read somewhere that gently dish soap is adequate for cleaning makeup brushes, so I used what I have on hand:  Mrs. Meyers lemon verbena.  I even bought an extra container from Publix to keep under my sink, which help me stay on track with this chore.  img_5842The cup from Tiffany & Co. was a Christmas gift from my parents.  It’s part of their “everyday objects” collection and I fell in love the moment I saw it in the catalog.  They come in a set of two and right now the second “paper” cup (they’re actually china) is on the nightstand in one of our guest rooms.  I plan to put flowers in it when we have guests.

Speaking of fluffing trays, I purchased some tulips from Publix over the weekend to dress up the tray I keep on my butler’s pantry.  I should have polished the tray, but for now the flowers will have to do.  Our butler’s pantry is very close to our garage door entry, so it’s often the first thing people see when they enter our house.  I need to buy flowers more often as these little tulips have made me so happy coming and going these past few days.img_5845The candle burning in the photo above is warm sugar cookie by the Tyler Candle Company and it’s incredible.  My kids especially love it.  I like that it’s cozy and wintery, but not Christmassy.  Plus, that leopard print lid gets me every time.

Bodie is playing basketball this winter through i9 sports and we are all loving every minute of it.  It’s low key and, most importantly, all about good sportsmanship and having fun.  The children are learning the fundamentals and having a great time doing so.  The games are a riot!  Bodie really hustles on the court and was awarded the MVP medal at his game Saturday.  My little Peach.img_5835img_5834In other sporty news, I took the kids skiing with a friend and her two daughters Monday.  We headed to the Western North Carolina mountains and enjoyed a beautiful day on the slopes of Cataloochee.  Our group of six was a great mix.  Emery and her friend skied the entire mountain by themselves all day while us moms focused on our younger kids.  Bodie is a total pro now and really only needed help on the chair lift once.  He was very patient with his mama.  img_5852img_5853img_5854Enjoy the rest of this short week!
