Long Time, No Blog

May-hem is in full swing around here!  This is probably been one of the busiest weeks of my life and our country club, which is clearly run by men, decides to host their member-member golf tournament this week/weekend.  This is the second year in a row they’ve done this (it used to be held in September) and it’s completely mind boggling.  My husband has been MIA all freaking week while I’ve been dealing with a sick kid home from school, end of year baseball stuff, end of year school stuff, EmeryBodie LLC orders, field trips and birthday celebrations.  But, by all means, he should play 18 holes every day and then stick around for cigars and cocktails and come home sunburned and exhausted after the kids are already asleep.  I want to be a man in my next life.  #sorry #rantover  But seriously, why host a golf tournament the same weekend as the Kentucky Derby?  I am attending a fabulous derby party today without my plus one.

Speaking of the Kentucky Derby, this is one of my favorite days of the year!  This week has been so crazy that I almost forgot to get out my fun jockey door hanger.

My EmeryBodie orders this week consisted of a bunch of linen dinner napkins and some Detroit Tigers pillow covers.  These napkins are the prettiest peach color.  A customer is using them at a bridesmaids brunch she’s hosting this weekend.  The napkins are embroidered with the bride’s new monogram and will be gifted to her following the luncheon.  I LOVE this idea.  IMG_0842

These D’s are going to be couch pillows for some Detroit Tigers fans.  I did some research and the Tigers always have some variation of an Old English “D” as their logo.  It’s varied over the years, but this is what my Old English font looks like.  I narrowed the width a bit to get as close to the current logo as possible.  All in all, I definitely think it looks like a Detroit D.  Each of these letters was 20K stitches and took 34 minutes to stitch.  Wow.

This week has been teacher appreciation week at school.  We love our teachers, even more so after yesterday’s field trip.  Oh my stars.  Wednesday was “Wet their Whistle Wednesday” and the kids were supposed to bring in their teachers’ favorite drink.  I decided to have my kids gift their teachers with my all time favorite Bubba cups.  These aren’t too pricey (less than $10) and I can’t imagine someone not liking these.  The straw seriously helps my water intake.  *Excuse the horrible picture quality.  I snapped this at about midnight in my monogramming cave one night.*

Bodie has his last baseball game and I am snack mom.  I personalized these cute little baseball popsicle koozies and stuck a yogurt tube in each one.

Emery’s class went on an amazing field trip yesterday to Roper Mountain Science Center.  Roper Mountain is probably best known for their planetarium, but they also have this incredible Living History Farm and Schoolhouse.  The kids learned all about how antebellum farming was done in South Carolina and experienced first hand what it was like to pick cotton prior to the invention of the cotton gin, remove the husk from a grain of rice, plow fields, wash clothes and cook.  After a quick Chick Fil A picnic, we were treated to a reptile interaction (corn snake) and paleontology dig.  Emery found sharks teeth!  All in all, it was a wonderful field trip (hot, though) and I can’t recommend Roper Mountain Science Center enough.  Plus, I got to spend some time with just Emery.  One on one time with the kids is a treat.

I still haven’t done a recap of the GNAR Adventure race the kids participated in last weekend.  I hope to be back tomorrow with those pictures.  We had a blast!

Have a great weekend!
