IMG_6791We kicked off the weekend with Emery’s first ever tennis match.  The weather was gorgeous and Emery’s amazing teacher came to support her.  Em lost her singles match, but prevailed in doubles with her buddy, Lydia.  I was super impressed with the kids.  They did a great job following the rules of the game and displaying good sportsmanship….and having fun!

Saturday was just as pretty as Friday and our neighbor was kind enough to invite some neighborhood kids over to swim in her beautiful pool.  The pool is heated, obviously.  We are so blessed to live where we do.  I have a handful of neighbors I can call at any given moment and they’re there to help in a heartbeat.  IMG_6799IMG_6796Of course the kids had to inflate every pool float we own for the first (outdoor) swim of the season.  Gipper tried to blend in with the toys in hopes of joining us. It didn’t work.

Sunday we did something the kids and I had never done before:  four wheelingIMG_6805Once again our weather was stunning and we spent the entire day outdoors.  Can’t beat that with a stick!  Our good friends have a few four wheelers and invited us to join them at Gulches Offroad Park in Laurens, SC.  This place has insane terrain for people with ATV’s and jeeps to play around on.  We stuck with the beginner trails, which were plenty challenging for me.  I think Emery enjoyed it the most.  We couldn’t get her off her four wheeler.  IMG_6807IMG_6811We set up for the day at a campsite right on the Reedy River, which kept the boys entertained for hours.  Both Bodie and Charlie fell in.  Note to self:  bring a change of clothes next time.IMG_6815IMG_6806For those of you with girls, or those of you who are a girl, this little contraption I purchased at REI is a must when bathrooms are not readily available.  I think you can also find them on Amazon.  It’s called GoGirl and basically acts as a funnel when peeing al fresco.

The kids and I have accidentally started a Tuesday tradition at Starbucks.  Emery works with her tutor while Bodie and I tackle his homework for the week.  I always get a chocolate croissant and my usual:  tall, nonfat, no whip mocha with a pump of raspberry.  It’s a nice reward for surviving the first two days of the week.  IMG_6834IMG_6836Happy hump day!
