Kiawah and Charleston Recap

Last week I was fortunate enough to spend a few days in one of my favorite spots in the US with some of my favorite people. These girls were my roommates and best friends (including my sister) at the University of Notre Dame. We are all married with kids and live in different states up and down the east coast (NY, MA, GA and SC), so we don’t get to see each other nearly as often as we’d like. Thankfully, the stars aligned and we were all able to make a trip to Kiawah happen. We stayed at Timbers Kiawah, which is just as stunning and heavenly as the Timbers property in Steamboat, One Steamboat Place, where we always stay on our family ski trips. We spent much of our time relaxing on Kiawah, visiting the spa at The Sanctuary and shopping and dining in Freshfields Village. We did go into CHS one day to wander around and take in the sights. Charleston is truly one of the prettiest cities I’ve ever seen.

Iconic Rainbow Row

I about fainted when I walked into the main house at Timbers Kiawah and was greeted with this staircase. Mine at home is the EXACT SAME! I painted the front stairs ombre blue several years ago after I saw something similar on Instagram. It makes for such an impactful entrance. I immediately felt at home.

The weather was a little chilly, but we were perfectly comfortable walking along the beach in our coats.

Can’t beat that view with a stick!

While I was enjoying the beach, the hubs was skiing with a bunch of buddies in CO. As they say, “opposites attract.” He loves the mountains. I’m a beach girl. Thankfully, my in laws came to town to watch the kids so we could both have our vacations.

The weather is horrible in SC today….wishing I was back in Kiawah. Stay safe, everyone! I received word that the children are “sheltering in place” at their schools. I’m sitting at the Toyota dealership waiting on my car to be serviced and tornado warnings are popping up on the television every few minutes.
