January Organization

I try not to make myself crazy with lofty goals for the month of January, but I must admit that the urge to purge and tidy is intense right after the holidays. Tackling an entire house is overwhelming, but I’m here to share a few products that have a big impact. Hopefully implementing these small changes will give you the inspiration to keep going! I’m always more motivated to tackle projects when I see results.

First on the docket: the water bottle cabinet. We all have one and they quickly get out of control because it’s a cabinet the children tend to frequent. The biggest challenge is only the water bottles in the front are visible, which results in a lot of digging around and knocking things over in an attempt to find the desired vessel. Between school and sports, we use multiple bottles every day.

mDesign sells the BEST storage solution for water bottles. These work for many coffee tumblers as well. I made this purchase several years ago and wish I’d done it sooner. Our water bottle cabinet is still perfectly organized with zero maintenance. I love these so much I gifted some to my sister when she moved last year. They’re available on Amazon. Water Bottle Storage

My second organizational hack that packs a punch but doesn’t require a ton of effort: switch out your hangers! I used plastic white hangers for all of my clothes (tops, bottoms, dresses, etc.), up until October. The lovely ladies at Revived Spaces helped overhaul my closet last fall. They replaced the traditional chunky plastic hangers with a slimmer option for my tops and dresses. Bottoms were hung on handsome wooden hangers. (Side note: velvet hangers drive me bonkers. I find it too time consuming to actually get the garment on the hanger. I know a lot of people like them, but I’ll pass).

Upgraded Closet

My closet feels like it doubled in size and the aesthetic is much more appealing. Sadly, I do not have a “before” picture. Trust me that this is a thousand times better. Maybe one day I’ll have a big fancy closet with an island and a chandelier, but this will do for now. Our house was built in the early 90s. Closets have come a long way since then.

Slim Hangers

The hangers are available on Amazon. I’ve linked here: https://amzn.to/3XceQoi A pack of fifty is $35 and the reviews are excellent.

My bottoms are actually on suit hangers. They work like a charm! The suit hangers are sturdy and nothing slides around on the wood.

Suit Hangers

These are also available on Amazon and the reviews are just as spectacular as the slim hangers. Get them here: https://amzn.to/3GmQjWI

If you need hangers with clips for skirts or simply prefer to hang your pants without folding them, here you go: https://amzn.to/3vEmDzo

So there you have it! My two tips for feeling as though you have your life together: organize your water bottles and invest in your clothes hangers. These projects are relatively simple and inexpensive. They’re also a good excuse to donate all of the cups and clothes that you’re not using. Everybody wins!
