Introducing Knute

Back in May, my children and I attended the baseball game of a good friend at Corey Burns Park in Taylors, SC. We left with a Chihuahua. Emery found this little doggie roaming around within seconds of arrival at the park. He was not wearing a collar and friends of ours who had been there all day said he’d been hanging around for hours. Emery and her friends spent the entire evening walking around to all of the fields trying to locate his owner, but to no avail. I brought the little guy home with us with plans to take him to the vet first thing in the morning to be scanned for a chip.

Gipper was, surprisingly, thrilled with our little overnight visitor. They instantly clicked. Long story short, I took the pup to the vet as soon as I dropped the kids at school….no chip. I posted him on Nextdoor, Facebook, PawBoost, etc. I drove around looking for signs of a missing dog….nothing. We truly have no idea where he came from, but after two months he’s definitely a Slagel. Everyone other than Ben is smitten with him. We named him “Knute,” after Knute Rockne. Knute is hilarious and acts like such a tough guy. His potty skills are not always awesome, but we’re making progress. He never leaves Gipper’s side, which is the sweetest thing ever. I never thought I’d have a Chihuahua, to be honest, but now I get it. Without further adieu, here’s Knute!

Knute Rockne Slagel: From Stray to Spoiled
The thin white stripe on his face kills me.
Ride or die. Gipper and Knute are always together.
Gipper makes friends with all of Gipper’s big dog buddies. He REALLY liked when Rip visited from Texas for a few days. Bless his heart.
Knute is a little Houdini and escapes his crate within seconds unless we cover the top.
Hanging out in front of the oven while I cook.
Bodie enjoys cuddles with both pups.

Emery is so enamored with Knute that she requested he be featured on her birthday cake. Publix nailed it!

With Gipper, Hunter (cat) and now Knute, we’ve got our hands full. But also our hearts. Knute completes our family and brings *most* of us immense joy.

Have a great Wednesday!
