This week was a doozy. I’m happy to report that we had a successful first week of sixth and ninth grade at Chez Slagel, but it was not without hiccups. I’m sure our second week will be better. Starting on a Tuesday was ambitious. The week was LOOOONG. The fact that both kids are at new schools added to the stress. Learning all new layouts and car line procedures (spoiler alert: there are none. It’s a free for all and a real life game of Frogger) was a lot to handle. Note to self: don’t space your kids so that one starts high school at the same time the other starts middle school.

First Day of Sixth Grade

I’m incredibly thankful both kids have friends at their new schools and we’ve managed to work out carpools.

This photo was posted on the Facebook page for Greenville County Schools. I love it! I think the uniforms look sharp. Bodie wears Columbia PFG shorts with a Vineyard Vines or Southern Tide golf shirt every day and he’s happy as a clam. So easy! Emery also had a uniform in middle school. Not gonna lie, I wish she had to wear one in high school as well.
The pups were thrilled when the boy came home. They miss the kids when they’re in school.

We ate dinner at The Melting Pot Tuesday evening, which is our back to school tradition. Emery and Bodie are such carnivores. They always get the filet entree. I’m just here for the cheese and chocolate.

Not related to back to school stuff in any way, but worth mentioning…The Meg 2 is great! I took Bodie and his buddy to see it last weekend and we loved it. It’s super fun and a great escape. We all agreed that we enjoyed it more than the first Meg. Go see it!

I hope all of you sending kids off to school have a GREAT year. It’s nice to be back in a routine, but I do already miss the lazy days of summer a bit.
