Happy Sunday! I’m up early knocking a few things out before church. I love Sundays. Church, meal planning and grocery shopping are things I enjoy because it sets the week up for success.
My favorite night of the month was last Thursday: Book B*tches! We read Beautiful Ugly by Alice Feeney. We’ve read Alice Feeney before and thoroughly enjoyed her novels. However, if I’m being honest, none of us loved Beautiful Ugly. One of my fellow B*tches felt the story seemed “lazy.” Overall, it’s extremely far fetched. I don’t want to give away any spoilers. We had a great time discussing Grady, Sandy, Cora, Kitty and Abby, but we all agreed it’s not the usual Alice Feeney standard of writing. Here’s what Amazon has to say:
Author Grady Green is having the worst best day of his life.
Grady calls his wife to share some exciting news as she is driving home. He hears Abby slam on the brakes, get out of the car, then nothing. When he eventually finds her car by the cliff edge the headlights are on, the driver door is open, her phone is still there. . . but his wife has disappeared.
A year later, Grady is still overcome with grief and desperate to know what happened to Abby. He can’t sleep, and he can’t write, so he travels to a tiny Scottish island to try to get his life back on track. Then he sees the impossible – a woman who looks exactly like his missing wife.
Wives think their husbands will change but they don’t.

Beautiful Ugly

My friend, Deidre, made a delicious dinner. I was nervous because the host usually chooses food from the book to prepare. The only meal prominently featured in Beautiful Ugly is lamb, which I don’t love. Thankfully, Deidre went off script and fixed the most delicious quiche! Our time together was lovely, as always.
