Bodie’s Birthday and Diving at the GA Aquarium

My goodness we had a busy long weekend!  We kicked thing off by celebrating our favorite little boy, Bodie James.  My peach is SIX!!!!!  We started the party before school by giving him his gifts:  LeBron kicks from his grandparents and a hover board from his daddy and me.  IMG_9587

Then he received extra snuggles from Gipper in the carline at school.

That evening we took Peach and a few friends to the Swamp Rabbits hockey game.  Such a fun party!  We purchased a box, which was ideal for a bunch of wild boys.  They weren’t confined to seats and we didn’t have to worry about them disrupting other fans.  Let’s be real, they spent most of the evening wrestling on the floor.  Stomper the mascot paid us a visit, which was a fun surprise.

All of Bodie’s grandparents came into town for the party, which made it extra special.  My kids are so lucky to have such amazing grandparents.  Even Nanny, my 90 year old grandmother, made the trip up from Atlanta to party with the birthday boy.

We spent the first day of the long weekend recovering from the antics of the night before.  I took the kids to Starbucks and discovered Egg White Bites.  Oh.My.Stars.  I guess they’ve have been around for a while, but I’m late to the party (per usual).  They are delicious!  And since I’m not a big protein eater, these are a tasty, easy way to get something besides carbs into my belly.

Against my better judgement I finally let Emery download Snapchat on my phone.  Again, I realize I’m way late to this party as well, but I just didn’t want her using my phone OR sharing pictures with random people.  However, she had a ton of fun with it for a day and seemed to get it out of her system.  And although I resisted for so long, I found the pictures to be quite adorable.  Gipper even got in on the action.

No offense to Bodie, but the highlight of the weekend was our trip to Atlanta so I could DIVE WITH THE WHALE SHARKS AT THE GEORGIA AQUARIUM!!!!  Yup, you read that correctly.  For Christmas hubs and my BIL gifted my sister and me with the experience of a lifetime:  an opportunity to dive in the whale shark tank at the aquarium.  The aquarium staff made this event exceed our expectations by taking our friends and family members (and there a lot!) on a guided tour while we dove so that they could be in the right place at the right time to see us in the massive tank.  We had so much fun waving to each other through the crazy thick acrylic.  Then, our crew was escorted backstage for a brief behind the scenes look at the tank as well as the nursery (baby clown fish!).  All of that was at no extra charge.  I knew the dive would be super cool, but I had no idea our guests were going to get the red carpet VIP treatment.  The whale shark interaction is called Journey with Gentle Giants and you do have to be SCUBA certified to participate.  However, a snorkel option is also available at a different time.  I think the only requirement for that is an age minimum (twelve).  As soon as my kids are old enough, we’ do it.  Next time we go to the aquarium I want to do the otter interaction.  They are the cutest!

Alison and me ready to go!  Yes, we have matching Lilly monogrammed, shark embellished Bubba cups.

AHHHHH-MAZING!  Alison and I are the two divers on the left.  Surreal experience.

Bodie, Hayes and Kelsey on the other side of the glass.  I’m honestly not sure which diver is me and which is Alison in this picture.  #twinproblems

I’m pretty certain Alison is on the left, face to face with her son, in the picture below.

Me.  Maybe?

I can’t recommend this experience enough.  If you’re certified and in Atlanta or will be in Atlanta, plan a visit/dive!

We ended the weekend with a horseback riding lesson and an orthodontist appointment.  Emery will get her braces off next month.  EEEK!

Enjoy this short week!
