This past weekend was one for the record books. Nothing earth shattering happened, just a lot of fun events and sports victories.

We kicked things off with a backyard bonfire Friday evening. My parents were in town so they could attend Emery’s soccer game and Bodie’s football game Saturday morning. The bonfire was one of those happy accidents where a bunch of our friends happened to be free and wandered over. We ordered a bunch of pizza and watched football outside. I do not have one single photo…I guess I was too busy having a good time.

Saturday morning was soccer and football. Both kids’ teams were victorious!

Speaking of victories, we rushed home from soccer to watch my Irish take on Wisconsin. The game was played at Soldier Field in Chicago as part of Notre Dame’s Shamrock Series. Honestly, I expected Notre Dame to lose. Wisconsin is a solid team and the Irish struggled their first two games. However, we won BIG! Bodie and I take ND football very seriously and an “L” would have put a dark cloud over the rest of our weekend. Adding to the fun is that we watched the game in our newly renovated basement with two big televisions.

Brian Kelly is now the winningest coach in Notre Dame football history. Congratulations, Coach Kelly!

Bodie and I rushed out the door right after the game ended to meet up with friends at Ink & Ivy for an early dinner before the Dude Perfect Tour stop in Greenville. We ate on the rooftop and thoroughly enjoyed delicious food and glorious weather. Not to mention excellent company.

Ink & Ivy Greenville

The show was fantastic! We originally purchased tickets in December 2019. It’s been rescheduled multiple times due to Covid, so the boys were extra hyped to finally get to see these guys in action. Dude Perfect consists of five friends who were roommates at Texas A & M University. They officially formed Dude Perfect in 2009 and it’s become a YouTube phenomenon. I was aware of their trick shots and stunts, but I only recently learned that they are excellent role models for our boys. If your little ones are fans of the DP crew, encourage it!

As if our sports success and Dude Perfect weren’t enough, Sunday consisted of Gipper’s favorite day of the whole year: Drool at the Pool. Each fall our club hosts a doggie play date at the pool before they close it up for the season. It’s hilarious. Most of the dogs enjoy running around off leash while snacking on treats, but Gipper spends the entire time in the water. He loves to swim! We were blessed with perfect weather. Knute attended for the first time. He’s actually a decent little swimmer, but preferred dry land.

I hope you all have a fabulous Tuesday! Hard to believe, but I’ve already started Christmas shopping and am working on a gift guide.
