Bodie and I joined some friends at Clemson University for the Savannah Bananas game Saturday evening. They played the Party Animals. The Bananas get all the love, but I’m here for the Party Animals! The teams put on an amazing show and I would love to see them again. I do think a smaller venue would be better. This was their first game in a college football stadium. I tried to get tickets when they came to Greenville last summer and played in our minor league baseball stadium (Greenville Drive). That would be even better!

It was a HOT day in Clemson!

Banana Ball

At one point Bodie mentioned that perhaps Banana Ball is geared more towards moms than kids and, well, he’s not wrong. My friends and I were very entertained. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, look at the Instagram accounts for the Savannah Bananas and The Party Animals.

The banana theme covered all the bases (see what I did there?), including beer. I’m happy to report that this actually tasted like normal beer.

Banana Beer

After the game we attended the after party in the parking lot and got to meet the Banana Nanas. These ladies are fabulous!

I hate to complain because we truly had a lovely evening, but I always want to be completely honest. Clemson dropped the ball as host for the game. Clemson is home to numerous sold out football games every year, so I was not expecting many hiccups. I’ve attended several huge games at Clemson and they’ve always gone off without a hitch. Unfortunately, they seemed unprepared for the Bananas. The player walk did not take place as advertised. The teams took a different entrance into the stadium, so the thousands of us who stood in the heat and sun didn’t get to see the fellas. The lines to get inside the stadium (at least at our gate) were long and slow moving. The same could be said once inside. The waters and beers were warm. Every vendor ran out of food. It was chaotic. The traffic situation after the game was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Despite waiting over an hour to leave, we sat on Clemson Blvd from 10 PM-midnight and only moved about fifty yards. All that to say, I will definitely see the Bananas again, but will stick to smaller stadiums moving forward.

I hope you have a great week!
