We’ve been back in school for several weeks and I am loving being back on a regular schedule again. The last few weeks of summer were a little rough; swim team and vacations were behind us and the lack of structure coupled with boredom resulted in a lot of sibling fighting. I think we all do better on a routine.
Emery is in her final year of middle school and, once again, I am thrilled that she has to wear a uniform. Regular clothes will be a HUGE adjustment for us next year when she’s in public school, so I am savoring every second of this year. Thankfully, Athleta’s uniform line is approved by her school. The skorts are fabulous!
Emery 8th
Bodie is king of the hill as a fifth grader at our sweet elementary school. I’m serving on the PTA board again and also as his room mom. I am going to be sad when he completes fifth grade and our days at this wonderful school are a thing of the past. Bodie is thrilled to have Emery’s former teacher this year. She is incredibly energetic and fun. We love her.

It’s become a tradition for our family to eat dinner at The Melting Pot the first night of school. Emery and Bodie (and most of their friends) are obsessed with The Melting Pot. We ALWAYS get the beer cheese fondue for our starter and the steak entrees. The portions are big, so we share. Dessert is amazing milk chocolate, fruit and sweets. This is a fun night and one the kids look forward to. Don’t worry, we’ll take them again between now and next August.

This doesn’t have anything to do with back to school, but my birthday was last month and one of my gifts from my parents just arrived last week…the Mackenzie-Child’s dog treat jar. It’s so pretty and I’m smitten. It was totally worth the wait. I love all of Mackenzie-Child’s creations.

With back to school comes all the sports. Emery is playing soccer again again this fall and she’s decided to try being goalie. I find the games extremely stressful now what she’s goalie, but she loves it. Bodie has gotten really into golf lately. He wants to play a few holes and go to the driving range every day. Thankfully, Ben is happy to oblige.

Emery and I are gearing up for our second year with National Charity League of Greenville. If you have a daughter in middle or high school, I can’t recommend NCL enough. It’s like The Junior League, but for moms and daughters. I love the quality time with Emery and I REALLY love supporting so many worthwhile charities. I hope and pray my children feel led to give as they mature.
