This week is an emotional one for me: my little Peach is double digits. I can’t believe my baby is ten. And Emery turns thirteen this summer. Oy. I am NOT ready for this.

Thanks to the extra week of NFL football this season, the Super Bowl fell just two days before Bodie’s birthday. He asked for a small-ish Super Bowl party as his birthday party and I was happy to make that happen. I ordered a bunch of Zaxby’s catering and a cookie cake from Publix to feed our crowd. The kids AND the adults were pleased as punch with this meal.

Bodie couldn’t have asked for a more exciting game (and halftime show) for his celebration. He’s a big Stafford fan and also really wanted OB Junior to get a ring, so we were pulling for the Rams. That being said, none of us would have been upset with a Bengals win. Really, we just wanted a good game and we definitely got one.

I could not ask for better friends for my son. I love all of the boys in these photos…and their entire families.

Monday was Valentine’s Day, which meant Bodie had a class party with LOTS of candy. Then, Tuesday, he woke up as a ten year old. Bodie’s birthday request was to skip school and ski at Cataloochee with his dad for the day. Amazingly, Bodie has only missed one day of school this year (for our flight to Notre Dame), so we agreed to this. The day was perfect! Little man got to sleep in a bit, sport a new Spyder hoodie, snuggle Gipper, and enjoy a bluebird day on the mountain.

Birthday Skiing

All of that skiing makes a fella hungry! Peach requested hibachi for his birthday dinner. He’d recently been to Fusion (Woodruff Road location) with some buddies and loved the chefs, so we went there. Just like Bodie said, our chef was hilarious and the food very good.

Believe it or not, Bodie went straight to basketball practice after dinner. I was exhausted just watching. He slept well!

Wednesday morning brought an extremely cool surprise: I’d hired a local artist/fellow mom to paint the Buena Vista Boulder for Bodie. Like many schools, this is a wildly popular fundraiser and booking the rock is a bit cut throat, but I made it happen. Every year I attempt to paint it myself and it always looks terrible. I got smart this year and outsourced. The designs exceeded my wildest dreams. Bodie (and Emery) were enamored and Bodie said kids mentioned it to him all day long.

Local friends, I’m happy to share the artist’s contact information with you!

After days of non-stop celebrations, I’m happy to report that Bodie had the best birthday ever. I mean, what more could he ask for??? We loved celebrating him!
