For some reason, I love “A Day in the Life” posts. It’s fascinating to see how other people go about their day and I’m always looking for new ways to become more efficient. I realized earlier in the week that Thursday would be a very normal day for my family (Bodie was out of school Monday, both kids are off today), so I set about documenting my activities from the time I woke up until the time I went to bed. Spoiler: it’s not exciting.
Here’s how I start every day, regardless of the situation: Wordle and Connections. And then I share the results with my sister, dad and aunt. They do the same. I never said we were cool.

I make sure Emery is up and then I head downstairs to empty the dishwasher, pack lunches and enjoy my first cup of coffee.
Morning Chores

Bodie’s favorite sandwich is turkey and salami with lettuce, colby jack, and mustard. No crust. Emery actually bought lunch at school yesterday because it’s spirit week and fast food options were available as a fundraiser.
Most mornings I take Bodie and our neighbor to school, but Emery takes them every Thursday so I can make it to my favorite spin class at the Y. I usually stay for RIP as well. It’s a great way to start the day! 80 minutes of solid work and a great mix of exercises. I wish I could make this happen more than once per week, but I’ll take what I can get.

Then it’s back home for breakfast, bed making, laundry and work!
I’m trying to be better about my protein intake, so breakfast is usually some turkey sausage and cereal, cottage cheese and fruit, or cinnamon raisin toast with a hard boiled egg. Yesterday was sausage and cereal. The weather is amazing here lately, so I took my breakfast and my second cup of coffee outside.

Laundry is a constant chore at my house. I am always sorting, folding, washing, putting it away, changing it over. It’s never ending. Throughout my day, this is often my view:

Now it’s time to work for a bit! Yesterday was all Easter orders. I didn’t take many pictures because I don’t want to spoil any Easter Bunny surprises.

Fun fact: I always have the television on for background noise while I’m working. It’s usually Hallmark movies, 90210, Friends, The Golden Girls or Frasier. All things I’ve seen a thousand times.

I took my lunch break outside as well. I love this time of year! Lunch was leftover chicken and rice casserole from the night before. Read about that here: https://emerybodie.com/tried-and-true-comfort-food/

After a bit more work, I left to do my middle school carpool duties. I always bring my Kindle when it’s my day to handle afternoon pickup because I have to sit there for quite a while.

After school Bodie wanted to stop at QT for a snack, so he did that while I filled up. Then it was home for a quick change of clothes (Bodie for golf, Emery for soccer). Emery can drive herself to and from practice, which makes life so much easier.

I took Bodie straight from golf to flag football practice. Then it was home to prep a quick and easy dinner. Emery had a friend over so they could get ready for their school’s Hoedown together. Pasta with meat sauce and cut fruits and veggies. Nothing fancy when we’re eating in shifts.

Once that was squared away, I went back to get Bodie from football. He and I enjoyed a late dinner and then he had some buddies come over to play basketball.

While the boys played basketball and Ben watched hockey, I cleaned the kitchen and set my coffeemaker for the next morning. I also had Emery text me a proof of life photo after the hoedown. She went to a friend’s house to spend the night. Needless to say, I didn’t get much sleep. Being able to check her location is a blessing and a curse. IYKYK.

I let the dogs out one last time and went upstairs for my favorite part of the day: a long, hot shower. I was in the bed by 10:30, ready to stalk Emery for the night. And that’s a pretty typical day round here!
Update: she had a great time and made it home this morning no worse for the wear.
