Shortly after Emery began working this summer, she decided to attempt this 100 envelope challenge she saw on Tik Tok. As much as I loathe Tik Tok, it’s sometimes useful. If you’re not familiar with the 100 envelope challenge, here’s the gist:
The 100-envelope challenge is pretty straightforward: You take 100 envelopes, number each of them and then save the corresponding dollar amount in each envelope. For instance, you put $1 in “Envelope 1,” $2 in “Envelope 2,” and so on. By the end of 100 days, you’ll have saved $5,050.
I was skeptical that Emery would stick with this, but girlfriend is motivated to get a car! She saw this cute binder from Amazon on TikTok (rather than using plain envelopes…and I have to agree that the binder makes this very easy) and added to cart as soon as she got her first paycheck.
Emery simply cashes her paychecks instead of depositing them (I’m not sure how I feel about that, but I guess as long as she makes a deposit at the end of her 100 days, we’re all good), to get her cash. With Venmo and Greenlight I really wasn’t sure this was going to be possible, but it’s going very well.

As you can see from her tracker, Emery is not going in order WHICH TEARS UP MY NERVES! But, this method seems to work for her. She’s excited to fill her envelope each day and hasn’t been taking money out of the binder. Chances are that your teen has seen this on TikTok. I’m here to tell you that it actually works! Order it here: https://amzn.to/4eCObcU The binder is available in other colors.
